GTA VI: Official Announcement Timeline
A dated, source-led overview of key GTA VI announcements.
Last editorial review: October 13, 2026 · English
December 2023 — the first reveal
Rockstar's first trailer publicly introduced GTA VI through a curated presentation of its world and characters. A trailer confirms what the publisher chose to show, but does not supply a complete list of player-accessible mechanics.
Older coverage from this phase may use launch expectations superseded by subsequent official announcements. Always check the article date.
May 2025 — Trailer 2
Rockstar released a second official trailer in May 2025, offering additional characters and locations to examine. Visual confirmation of a scene is different from confirmation of a mechanic proposed in fan commentary.
For a reliable timeline, record first-party publication dates rather than the dates on which theories began circulating.
November 2025 — launch-date update
Rockstar's November 6, 2025 statement placed the GTA VI launch on November 19, 2026. It superseded previous release schedules and explained that extra development time was needed.
This is why a seemingly authoritative older search result can still be wrong today: its information may predate the most recent dated official notice.
June and September 2026 — products and accessories
Take-Two announced preorder details in June 2026, while PlayStation published information about limited-edition GTA VI controllers in September. Buying the game and buying a themed controller are separate decisions.
Retail offers and stock can change by country. Verify present availability directly with the seller rather than assuming a launch announcement guarantees an ongoing promotion.
Why timeline entries need context
The purpose of an announcement timeline is not to predict every future promotion. It is to show which statement was available when and whether newer first-party information superseded it. Trailer publication, release-date changes, preorder launches and accessory announcements are different kinds of events.
For each entry, separate the event date from the article's publication date when they differ. A post written after an announcement can still quote an earlier plan, and search engines may surface it without displaying the correction.
How the timeline is maintained
The G6 Hub should append newly verified announcements and correct entries that conflict with later official sources. It should not backdate editorial revisions or insert rumors as if they were scheduled announcements.
Because this is a prelaunch reference, future dates remain plans until the events happen. Readers can follow the linked Rockstar, Take-Two and PlayStation materials to confirm the status of time-sensitive details.
